Gage Morin wins at Cornwall Motor Speedway

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, August 29, 2010 – Martin Bélanger

Mother Nature finally decided to cooperate with Cornwall Motor Speedway. A great field of cars answered the call on this gorgeous night for racing; a full racing program was on hand in all five classes with a 25-lap Semi-Pro feature and a 25-lap Mini-Stock finale. Jones Brown Insurance was the main sponsor of tonight`s racing program.

A fine field of 23 cars took the green in the 30-lap Modified feature. Youngsters Gage Morin and Matt Billings were on the top row with Billings taking the early lead but Morin came back and took the lead on lap 2. Morin was strong in front with Lee Ladouceur now second followed by Joel Doiron. Morin caught slower cars with 10 laps in the books. Morin was fast on the following green with Ladouceur still in second as Lafrance was on the backbumper of Doiron for third. Morin was tearing the field down as he was back in traffic with only 2 laps to go in the feature. He led the final laps of the feature to win the race over Lee Ladouceur and Joel Doiron completed the podium. Laurent Ladouceur needs to be at the track next in the Jiffy 150 to claim the Modified track title.

In the 20 lap Pro-Stock Feature, Ricky Thompson was the early leader with PJ Peters behind him. Thompson had a pair of #73 cars behind him with Peters and Michel Desjardins. Cornwall, Ont – Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – Martin Bélanger

Cornwall Motor Speedway is proud to announce a new series for the modified division that will take place in 2010. The Canadian Nationals Series is scheduled for Sunday May 23 and August 1st.

The first race in May will be a 100-lap feature paying a nice $3,000 and will also be a Syracuse Qualifier. The finale will take place during the August holiday weekend and the feature will be 125 laps of racing mayhem with a cool $5,000 going to the winner. Double points and another Syracuse Qualifier will also be given during this race.

Drivers that will compete in both events will be eligible for $13,000 in money and prizes which include $3,000 to the series champion, a new Bicknell Chassis and Body and also some VP Racing Fuels.

We expect a high car-count for both races, make sure to put an ``X`` on your racing calendar on May 23 and August 1 to see the best modified drivers from Quebec, Ontario and Northern USA compete for this coveted title. [francais]

Cornwall to host 12 shows of DIRTcar Sportsman in 2010

Cornwall, Ont – Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – Martin Bélanger

The Cornwall Motor Speedway decided to follow the DIRTcar Sportsman wave as this division is becoming more and more popular throughout the DIRTcar circuit. This class will run a dozen times during the 2010 season.

Hosting some sportsman events over the last two years with a Quebec-Ontario Challenge and the Mr. DIRTcar Series trail making a stop last year and seeing that the car count was always excellent with 20 to 30 cars in the pits at each race, the decision was easy to have several races during the next season.

The Mr. DIRTcar Series will be back again in 2010 on Sunday, June 13. With more than 30 cars registered last season, we can expect similar numbers for this race with Chris Raabe being the defending champion of this race.

With several tracks near Cornwall, already having the sportsman as a regular class, Mohawk also adding this class regularly next summer and no other track competing against Cornwall on a Sunday night, car counts could be high right from the start.

Adding the Sportsman class to an already solid line-up is just a bonus for the race fans that will attend the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday nights. [francais]
