Corriveau, Gregory and Russell winners at Cornwall Motor Speedway

CORNWALL, On – Sunday September 16, 2007 – It was the last race program of the season at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the presentation of a special 40-lap race for the sportsmans making an appearance after a 10-year absence, 25 laps for the semi-pro counting for the Stock Car Challenge, 25 laps for rookies, a backward race and to finish the afternoon off, a huge demolition derby.

After a decade off from Cornwall, the sportsman was on the track for a 40-lap feature race. 25 cars took the green with Daniel Messier grabbed the early lead over Jonathan Archambault with JF Corriveau using the outside lane to pass Archambault and was now in second when JF Tessier and Alain Léveillé got together on lap 6. Messier stayed in front on the restart with Corriveau following closely when he used the outside lane to pass Messier on lap 9 when Tessier stopped in turn 2 with 12 laps completed. Corriveau got a good start with Steve Bernier passing Messier when the race resumed. A big crash on the backstretch involving 3 cars with Yan Larrivée landing on his roof and this caused a red flag with all drivers ok in this accident on lap 18.  When the race was back on green, Corriveau was still the leader with Messier in second when Denis Forgues spun out in turn 2 on lap 22. Corriveau kept this lead with Nadeau challenging Messier for second spot with Corriveau pulling away when Steve Bernier stopped on lap 26. With the green back on the field, Corriveau got away from Messier with Nadeau in third with good battles going on in the field when Philippe Desgranges stopped in the inside of turn 3 with 33 laps down. Corriveau got another good start with Messier and Nadeau battling for second with Nadeau now in second. Nadeau was closing in on Corriveau with 2 laps to go. Corriveau was able to hold off Nadeau to win this special feature, with Daniel Messier finishing third, Jacques Pelletier was fourth and Jean-François Tessier rounding out the top 5. Jean Boissonneault, Steve Nadeau, Steve Bernier and Yves Léveillé won the qualifiying heats with Sébastien Benoit winning the consolation race.

A nice field of 21 cars started the 25-lap stock car challenge feature for the semi-pro as Jocelyn Roy took the lead after starting second when a couple of cars came together in the backstretch with 2 laps down. Roy got a good start over Gregory when Levac lost control in turn 4 and got hit by a few cars and this brought the yellow on lap 3. Roy kept his spot over Gregory and Ron Wadforth and he got a good lead over them with 10 laps completed. Some debris on the track slowed the field down on lap 13. Roy got another got start but Gregory was right on his tail and was able to pass him in the final turn after a small push. Roy finished second, Ron Wadforth was third, Brian Cross was fourth and Stéphane Lemire finished fifth. Gregory, Roy and Bruno Cyr were the heat winners.

The 25-lap feature rookie feature started 21 cars as Jacques Boisclair took the early lead when an accident occurred in turn 4 involving a few cars after one lap were completed. On the restart, Boisclair stayed first with Bob Ray and Gerry ‘O’ following him. The yellow came back out on lap 5 for David Seguin that hit the wall on the backstretch. Boisclair had a good start on the green with Andrew Russell and Jean-Marc Larose now following him and that is when Kevin Dejong had problems with his car in the backstretch. Boisclair started in front when Russell was able to pass him when Larose pushed Boisclair and the race was stopped for Martin Bigras who had problems with his car on lap 12. Russell got a good jump over Ray, and got a good lead and led the final 13 laps to win the feature race over Gerry ‘O’ and Corey Wheeler, Eli Gilbert finished fourth and Jean-Marc Larose completed the top 5. Jacques Boisclair, Bob Ray and Corey Wheeler had won the heats.

A good car-count showed up for today’s racing afternoon. With race day conditions, the track was pretty slick and the racing was pretty good. Two very entertaining demolition derbies, that finishes off this afternoon’s race program. David Hébert and Pete Stefanski are the winners of the Jiffy 150

CORNWALL, On – Sunday September 2, 2007 – It was the ‘big one’ on Jiffy Auto Service night at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the presentation of the Mr.DIRTcar Series race for the modifieds which they had a 100-lap event. The Pro-Stock also an Mr.DIRTcar series race with a 50-lap feature race. The Semi-Pro and Rookie classes were also on hand on a beautiful Sunday evening.

The 2007 Cornwall Motor Speedway track champion, Alain Boisvert started on the pole of the 100-lap Mr.DIRTcar Series event as he took the lead but had David Hébert and Lee Ladouceur on his back bumper, Hébert was now challenging Boisvert and got the lead on lap 6 from Boisvert with Lee Ladouceur in third. The leaders got into traffic with 12 laps in the feature as Hébert worked his through it with Lee Ladouceur taking the opportunity to pass Boisvert in those conditions on lap 16. With 25 laps in the books, Hébert was still the leader with Lee Ladouceur in second and Alain Boisvert in third. Some good battles was going on for positions 3 to 10 with some three wide action all over the track with Mike Adderley cracking the top 5 on lap 30. Adderley was now third after making some good moves over Boisvert and Laurent Ladouceur. Hébert had a complete stretch advantage over Lee Ladouceur with 40 laps completed when the first caution came out on the same lap for Perry Francis. Hébert had a great jump on the restart when Mario Clair slowed the field down on lap 44. Hébert got another good start over the field when Yan Bussière and Pierre Dagenais got tangled in turn 1 on lap 46. Hébert was still your leader with some position swapping going on for spots 3 to 5. At the halfway mark, the top 5 was Hébert, Lee Ladouceur, Mike Adderley, Pete Bicknell and Laurent Ladouceur as Hébert was moving away from Lee Ladouceur while Bicknell was trying hard to get the third spot when he did his move on lap 58 to grab it and one lap later he was now second when passed Lee Ladouceur. Bicknell was getting closer to Hébert as they were in heavy traffic when Pierre Dagenais spun out on lap 67. Hébert was still the leader with 25 laps to go in the feature when Alain Boisvert stopped in turn 4 on lap 78. Hébert led the field again when a caution came out for Eric Gauvreau. On the restart, Hébert got a good start with Pat O’Brien using the outside lane to grab the third spot from Lee Ladouceur and was using the same trick on Bicknell for second and he did pass him with 5 to go. A great battle was going on for the first spot as O’Brien was now challenging Hébert but he did not have enough to catch Hébert with O’Brien finishing second, Pete Bicknell finishing in third, Lee Ladouceur fourth and Danny O’Brien completing the top 5. Hébert was pretty happy in winner circle as he stated: ‘the car was great all race long and it`s always fun to win one here in Cornwall’. Lee Ladouceur, Stéphane Lafrance, Brian McDonald and Mike Adderly had won the qualifying heat races. Ladouceur had the fastest time during time trials with a time of 13.169 seconds.

The 50-lap Mr.DIRTcar Pro-Stock series race started with Pete Stefanski taking the lead but tangle occured on lap 1 in the backstretch. Stefanski kept the lead with Benedict in second and Roy in third but Joey Ladouceur grabbed third from the outside on lap 3. Stefanski got a good lead over the field when Ladouceur got the second spot from the outside lane on lap 8 but Benedict charged back when 2 cars got together in turn 2 on lap 10. Stefanski got his nose ahead of Ladouceur as he moved away from the field as Ladouceur got challenged for his second spot from Benedict when Godard got into the mix and he used the outside lane to grab the second spot from Ladouceur when Levac brought the caution on lap 20 with Benedict headed to the pits and lost his third spot. Godard used the outside lane to take the top spot on the next green but Stefanski was still there. With 25 laps down, Godard was the leader with Stefanski in second, Benedict in third, Louie Jackson fourth and Stéphane Lebrun completing the top 5. Godard got a good start when the yellow was back out on lap 28. Godard and Stefanski were even on the next green as they battle for the lead as Stefanski got it by a nose when the field had to slow down again on lap 30. Stefanski got a good start over Godard, but the high lane was working well for Godard as he stayed close to Stefanski with Lebrun in third with fifteen laps to go. William Adams lost control of his car in turn 4 on lap 37 and yellow was back out. Stefanski was still the leader on the green while Godard had to battle with Lebrun and Jackson to keep his second spot with ten to go when Godard went too high and Jackson took the second spot with Lebrun following spot when Jackson did a tremendous move in traffic over Stefanski to grab the lead on lap 44 and his the new leader when Joey Ladouceur stopped on lap 46. When the race resumed Jackson and Stefanski went at it with Stefanski back on top with two to go. Stefanski led the last two laps to win the feature over Jackson; Lebrun completed the podium with Gilles Godard finishing fourth and George Renaud completing the top 5. ‘I was fortunate enough to stay in front and I would like to thank PJ and Alan Peters for helping me with my car’ as Stefanski said in the post-race interview. Pete Stefanski, Clayton Benedict and Jocelyn Roy were the qualifying heat winners.

In the Semi-Pro feature, Marco Lalonde took the lead with Roger Hamilton on his tail when Stuart Mullin stopped in the infield on lap 3. Hamilton was now the new leader with a good restart with Steve Herrigan in second and Marc Lalonde in third.  Hamilton had a good lead at the halfway when Guy Regimbald brought out the caution for a flat tire on lap 9. Hamilton stayed in front when the green was back on the field and led the next four laps when Stéphane Carrière stop on the backstretch on lap 13. Hamilton got a good jump and led the last two laps to win his second feature in a row at Cornwall, Steve Harrigan finished second, Marc Lalonde was third, Stéphane Lemire fourth and Mathieu Aubin completed the top 5. Stéphane Carrière, Derek Cryderman and Stuart Mullin were the winners in the heats

Mike Gaucher jumped in the lead in the 12-lap rookie expert feature when a caution came on the first lap. On the restart, Kevin Dejong grabbed the lead over Gaucher when Jean-Marc Larose came into second with Andrew Russell getting into the mix when the second caution came out. Dejong had a good start on the next green with Russell following closely when he used the outside lane to pass Dejong on lap 8 and he led the last four laps to win the feature, Dejong finished second and Marc Usereau completed the top 3. Andrew Russell and Kevin Dejong were the heat winners in the rookie expert.

Jesse Thompson took the early lead on the rookie novice feature with Marc Chartrand coming into second spot on lap 3. Thompson slowed and this allowed Jacques Boisclair to grab the lead at the halfway point with David Sequin in second with Gerry ‘O’ was now sitting in second with three to go but Boisclair was too far away for being catch and he won his first feature of the year at Cornwall Motor Speedway with Gerry O finishing in second and David Sequin completed the top 3. Jacques Boisclair and Jesse Thompson won the qualifying heats in the rookie novice.

 A fine field of 45 modifieds signed in for the show and 26 Pro-Stocks did the same thing. It is a total of 115 cars that showed up for this Labor Day Classic show with a standing only crowd in the stands. Do not miss next week, as it will be the Annual Fireball Enduro 200, which is the ‘WWE of racing’. This very entertaining event will start at 2pm. Arrive early, because the stands are always packed for this show.

 

Danny Johnson is the winner of the Run What Ya Brung race at Cornwall Motor Speedway

CORNWALL, On – Sunday August 26, 2007 – It was the Run What Ya Brung night for modifieds, which teams made special creations with their cars this gave for exciting racing. Drivers went through the stands during intermission time to collect money for the race for children that was scheduled on August 12. The Cornwall Speedway Karting Club also made a presence when they took a few laps around the track.

Stéphane Lafrance took the lead in the 30-lap modified feature but flied off turn 2 and hit the wall and this brought the first caution of the race. Brian McDonald took the lead when Danny Johnson came in second spot with a tremendous move in turn 1 and 2, but the second came out for Alain Boisvert when he stopped in turn 2. On the following green, McDonald retained the lead with Johnson in second when Laurent Ladouceur rolled in turn 4 and the red came out on lap 5. Johnson gets a great start when the race resumed with Paul Pekkonen and McDonald doing battle for second with McDonald now back in second and chasing Johnson with Lee Ladouceur now in third. Mcdonald used the inside lane to pass Johnson and retook the lead on lap 14 and he took a great lead over Johnson as he had a 3 second lead over him. With three to go, McDonald had a right rear flat on the car and the yellow had to came out and Johnson was now the new leader. Danny Johnson kept the lead and led the last three laps to win his feature of the year at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Stéphane Lafrance, Brian McDonald and Paul Pekkonen were the modified qualifying heats.

In the 20-lap Pro-Stock feature, Steve Johnston took the lead when Ghyslain Valade stopped the yellow came out. Johnston kept the lead when Leduc used the outside lane to pass Johnston on lap 3 and took a good lead as Stéphane Lebrun was now in second until he went off the track in turn 2 and the yellow was back out on lap 7. Dave Bissonnette powered by Leduc on the restart to grab the lead when Joey Ladouceur slowed in turn 3 and the caution was back on the field on lap 9. Bissonnette was the leader again but had company with PJ Peters and Louie Jackson when the caution was back on lap 13 for Chris King who stopped in turn 4. When the green flew back, PJ Peters was the new leader with Bissonnette in second and Jackson in third with 5 to go when Bissonnette reclaimed the lead on lap 17 with a great move on Peters and led the final laps to capture the feature race after an epic battle with Peters, Louie Jackson finished third, Pete Stefanski fourth and Mitch Jock completed the top 5. Bissonnette, Ricky Thompson and Gilles Godard picked up the heat races. Clayton Benedict is the leader by 2 points over PJ Peters and he is unofficially the 2007 champion but he has to show up in next week`s show to capture his third track title in a row.

A total of 21 cars took the green in the 15-lap semi-pro feature as Kevin Jodoin took the lead when point’s leader Stuart Mullin and Guy Regimbald got together in turn 2 and this brought the first caution. Steve Herrigan took a commanding lead over the lead on the restart when 3 cars collided in turn 4 and this slowed the field down on lap 3. Roger Hamilton was now the new leader and Marc Lalonde who started last was now sixth when McMillan stopped on the backstretch and the yellow was out again. Hamilton was still the leader with Joe Woods chasing him for the top spot when Jeremy Levac slowed in turn 2 and the field had to slow down. When the race was back on, Hamilton was still the leader when Kevin Jodoin lost a wheel on lap 14. Hamilton and Derek Cryderman went for a 1-lap dash with Hamilton finally coming on top. Cryderman finished second and Steve Herrigan completed the podium. Woods, Crydernan and Hamilton collected the win in the Semi-Pro heats.

Corey Wheeler took the early lead in the 12-lap feature race for the rookie expert category. Mike Gaucher followed Wheeler closely when Gaucher had problems with his car on the backstretch and this brought the first caution of the race. Wheeler kept his lead over Marc Usereau on the restart when Stéphane Racine hit the wall on lap 7 and the second caution of the race was waved. Wheeler stayed in front on the following green and led the final 5 laps to win the feature over Marc Usereau, Andrew Russell finished third, Eli Gilbert was fourth and Dominic Charlebois completed the top 5. The heat winners in the rookie expert were Corey Wheeler and Eli Gilbert.

In the rookie novice feature, Jesse Thompson took the lead when Marc Chartrand had problems in turn 4 to bring the first caution of the race. Adam Trickey took a great lead on the restart but had to resist some charges from Steve Barber when Barber took the lead on lap 6 when the caution came out. On the restart Trickey grabbed back the lead with Barber following him closely when Joe Banks rolled over in turn 4 on lap 11 to bring the red flag on the field. When the race resumed Trickey led the last lap to win the race. Jesse Thompson and Gabriel Mercier won the rookie novice qualifications

Stéphane Lafrance broke the track record during his heat with a lap of 11.44 seconds around the quarter mile. His original creation was quite something to see getting around the track. The Cornwall Karting Club did a great showing during intermission with about 20 karts that ran few laps. Do not miss next with with the annual Jiffy 150, which is the most anticipated show of the year. The modifieds will have a 100-lap feature race counting towards the Mr.DIRTcar Series. Also on the schedule is a 50-lap Pro-Stock feature also counting for the Mr.DIRTcar Series. Come and see some of the best drivers in the business compete against the local driver. Time Trials for modifieds are schedule to start at 6pm with the pit gates opening at 4pm. Admission price will be 25$ in the grandstand.

Jeff VanDusen is the ESS winner while PJ Peters wins the 50 lap Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories Series

CORNWALL, On – Sunday August 19, 2007 – It was a really busy evening on Home Hardware Night. It all started with last weeks feature at 6pm before tonight`s race which consisted of the second visit of the Empire Super Sprints and also the final race of the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories Series for Pro-Stock as they had a 50-lap feature race.

In the final feature of the evening with a 30-lap for modified, Pierre Dagenais and Roy Delormier got right in when Brian McDonald spun out on the first lap. Delormier got a good start but Dagenais used the outside lane to pass him and got a good lead as Marc Therrien spun out in turn 4 on lap 5. Dagenais got a good jump with Kyle Dingwall now in second spot with Lance Willix in third when Brian McDonald slowed and brought his second caution of the race. On the restart, Dagenais stayed in front with Willix trying to get in front but spun out in the second turn and Laurent Ladouceur got into him. Dagenais was still front with Dingwall giving him a good challenge for the top spot with Boisvert and Lafrance going at it for third position and Lafrance finally got it and was now racing for second with Dingwall. Danny O’Brien was now fourth on lap 19 after starting fourteenth. Dagenais got into traffic with eight to go but did a great job as got away of Dingwall. Kyle Dingwall got closer to Dagenais did not have enough has Dagenais got the checkers to win his third feature of the year at Cornwall with Kyle Dingwall in second and Stéphane Lafrance who completed the podium. Lee Ladouceur, Roy Delormier and Dagenais had won the heats.

It was the last race in the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories Series for Pro-Stock when Allan Peters took the lead in the 50-lap feature. Allan`s brother PJ got into second place on lap 3 and was now chasing Allan with Ghyslain Valade in third spot. Debris on the backstretch brought the first caution on the sixth lap. Allan Peters got a good start on the following green when Valade spun and Chris King hit him hard in turn 2. Allan Peters was still in first with PJ really and got the lead on the next lap while Roch Aubin and Stéphane Lebrun were battling for third when Bissonnette got into the mix and was now third as PJ Peters pulled away from the field but Aubin grabbed back third but Bissonnette was still present and was now in third. Steve Johnston slowed down on the backstretch on lap 20. PJ Peters got a great start with Allen in second and Gilles Godard in third when a yellow came out. On the following green, PJ was still your leader with Bissonnette who moved into second with Allen in third when Denis Gauvreau brought the yellow on lap 25. PJ Peters got a great jump with Bissonnette in second and Allen Peters in third, Louie Jackson was now in the top 5 after starting last when Denis Gauvreau brung out his second yellow of the feature. PJ Peters was still the leader with Bissonnette and Jackson now third when Godard and Jackson got together on lap 32. Peters was still the leader with Benedict now in the mix for the third spot and Joey Ladouceur in the top 5. Allan Peters got back his third with Ladouceur now in fourth as the three cars got into a great battle for third while Bissonnette was on the back bumper of PJ Peters when Steve Johnston slowed on lap 44.  Peters got a good start and led the last 6 laps with Bissonnette on his back bumper to win the feature. Bissonnette finished second and Allan Peters in third, Clayton Benedict in fourth and Joey Ladouceur completed the top 5. With this win, PJ Peters wins the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories Feature Race. PJ Peters also won the third heat race with Joey Ladouceur and George Renaud winning the others.

Bubby Kerrick got a quick start in the 25-lap Empire Super Sprints feature while Lance Yonge moved up in second. Jeff Vandusen used the outside lane to pass Yonge on lap 4 and was did the same thing two laps later on Kerrick to take the lead and he was flying on the speedway while a great battle for second between Yonge and Kurrick when Tommy Wickham spun out on lap 12. VanDusen stayed in front on the restart while Poirier moved up to third but Jeff Cook used the outside to pass Poirier for third as Wichkam spun for the second time on lap 18. Vandusen got another great start while Cook was now second with Yonge in third. Vandusen led the last 7 laps to win his second feature in a row at Cornwall, as he was the winner in June 17. Jeff Cook finished second with Lance Yonge completed the podium. Mike Stelter, Mikael Parent and Alain Bergeron were the heat winners with Bergeron getting the win in the dash for cash.

It is a total of 20 cars that took the green in the 15-lap feature of the Semi-Pro category as Jeremy Levac got the lead and Cryderman got quickly into second and got in the first spot on the second lap by using the inside lane to pass Levac. This same Levac got a flat tire and this brought the first caution of the feature. Cryderman stayed in front while Stéphane Carrière followed him closely with Michel Desjardins in the third when an accident occurred in the backstretch on lap 7 with three cars in it. Cryderman got a good start when a driver lost a bumper bringing the yellow out. On the restart, Cryderman was still in front with Carrière and Desjardins going into a great battle for second spot when Jason Bourdon lost a tire and the caution was out on lap 11. Cryderman got another good lead when Guy Regimbald got sideways in turn 2 on lap 12. Cryderman got a quick start over Carrière and led the last two laps to win the feature with Stéphane Carrière finishing in second, Michel Desjardins third, Stuart Mullin fourth and Alexandre Gagnon rounding out the top 5. Desjardins, Cryderman and Carrière were the heat winners.

The rookie expert started tonight’s features with their 12-lap finale. Kevin Dejong grabbed the lead with Gage Morin chasing him. Morin used the outside lane to pass Dejong on the second lap when the caution came out for Chris James on lap 3. Morin stayed in front while Bob Ray used the outside lane to get into second and was closing in on Morin. The yellow came out on lap 6 when Mike Gaucher had problems in the backstretch. Morin kept the lead but Ray passed him in the inside of turn 3 when Marc Usereau`s car got into fire in the engine bay and the red came on the field. On the restart, Morin took back the lead from Ray and led the last two laps to win his third feature of the year over Bob Ray and Andrew Russell completed the podium. Marc Usereau and Dominic Charlebois had won the heats. A big rollover for Jean-Marc Larose occurred during these heats.

Stéphane Racine grabbed the lead in the feature race when he is pushed by Adam Trickie and Racine rolls over two times in turn 4 and this brings over the red flag while Trickie got the black flag for this push. Racine was ok. The new leader was now Matt Leroux when he lost control of his car in turn 2 and gave the lead to Donny Larocque. Larocque kept his lead with Marc Chartrand in second place. Larocque lost a wheel on lap 10 and Chartrand was now the leader. Chartrand and Leroux got into a great battle into the last laps and Matt Leroux was the winner over Chartrand and Guillaume Daoust completed the podium. Adam Trickie and Stéphane Racine were the heat winners.

Billy Cook took the lead in the 30-lap feature for the modifieds and led the first two laps when Lance Willix passed him from the outside and took the lead on the third lap. Willix got a sizeable lead over Cook with Laurent Ladouceur in third. The leaders got into traffic and Brian McDonald was able to work is through the field and was now second on lap 17. On lap 20, Willix was first with McDonald second, Cook Third Ladouceur fourth and Danny O’Brien completed the top 5. O’Brien was now fourth when he passed Cook. McDonald was getting closer to the leader, but Willix was able to hold off to win his first feature at Cornwall in a green to checker feature. Brian McDonald finished second, Clément Therrien was third, Danny O’Brien was fourth and Lee Ladouceur rounded out the top 5. The modified heats winners were Perry Francis, Laurent Ladouceur and Lance Willix

In the 20-lap feature for Pro-Stock, Roch Aubin got the lead over the field of 18 cars when Steve Johnston spun out in turn 4 on lap 2. Aubin kept the lead on the restart when Joey Ladouceur and Gilles Godard got together in the backstretch and this brought the second caution of the feature. Aubin was still in front but Dion Oakes passed him in the backstretch and got a good lead over the field. Daniel Leduc stopped in turn four on lap twelve and the yellow came out. Oakes kept his lead over Aubin when a few cars got together and debris was on the track. Oakes stayed in front with Aubin trying hard to regain the lead, Louie Jackson used the outside line to get from third to first in the same lap on the lap 18 and led the last laps to win his second feature of the year. Oakes was second, Aubin third, Clayton Benedict fourth and PJ Peters rounded out the top 5. Roch Aubin, Gilles Godard and Jocelyn Roy had won the heat races.

Kevin Jodoin took the lead in the 15-lap feature for the Semi-Pro and led the first three laps whe the first caution came out for Marc Lalonde who spun out. Jeremy Levac grabbed the lead on the restart when he got too high and Mathieu Aubin was now first when the yellow came out for Levac who had a flat tire on lap 6. Point’s leader Stuart Mullin powered by Aubin when the green was back on and got a good lead when Steve Herrigan lost a tire on lap 10 and that caused the third caution of this feature. Mullin kept his lead over Aubin when Michel Desjardins spun in front of the grandstand on lap 12. Mullin was still in front with Derek Cryderman in second, Mullin led the last three laps to win his fourth feature of the year, Cryderman finished second and Kurtis McPhee was third. Stuart Mullin had also won his heat; Marc Lalonde and Steve Herrigan were the other heat winners

The rookie novice started the night with there 12-lap feature race when Stéphane Racine took the lead followed by Gary Kyer, Racine pulled away and at the halfway point, he had a 10-car length advantage over Kyer who had some challenge with Mikael Laberge.  Racine led all laps and captures his first win of the season in this class, Kyer followed him but got penalized for rough riding and Laberge completed the podium. Michael Duval and Stéphane Racine won the qualifications.

 It was probably the busiest night of racing this year at Cornwall with a total of 10 feature races plus 16 heat races making for a total of 26 races. It is a total of 335 green laps that were done on the quarter mile of Cornwall. The pits were packed with the infield loaded with the Semi-Pro and Rookie cars as a whopping total of 105 cars showed up for tonight race program. Do not miss next week, as the modifieds will have the Run What Ya Brung event as the drivers can modify their cars as they want and we usually get some great creations. A complete race program is also on the schedule with a general admission price of 9$ and the first heat is schedule to start at 7pm.

 

Mohawk Racing Parts and Accessories takes sponsorship deal for the Pro-Stock Series

The Pro-Stock series involving Edelweiss Speedway, Frogtown International Speedway and Cornwall Motor Speedway, will have a new name as Mohawk Racing Parts and Accessories is now the new major sponsor for 2007 for this series.Based in Awkesasne, New York and owned by Gilbert Lazare, Mohawk Racing Part and Accessories sells races parts and other accessories.

By sponsoring the Pro-Stock Series, M. Lazare wants to encourage all the drivers of that class who are buying parts or other accessories from him. He wants to give back to racing.

This 4 race series starts at Cornwall on Sunday, July 1st, followed by Frogtown on Saturday, July 7th, Edelweiss hosts the third event on Friday, August 3rd and the series finishes at Cornwall on Sunday, August 19. Events at Cornwall and Edelweiss will be a 50 laps feature and it will be a 35 lapper at Frogtown.

Drivers like Joey Ladouceur winner of the previous year series, the winner of the 2006 Super Dirt Week, Louie Jackson, Clayton Benedict, Stéphane Lebrun, Denis Gauvreau, Dave Bissonette and other of the top Eastern Pro-Stock drivers.

It will be another exciting racing series and a lot of actions for sure at every speedway. Do not miss it!!!
