The Heat was On and Off the Track

It was a scorcher in more ways then one at the Cornwall Kart club at Cornwall Motor Speedway Tuesday night as the points battle is well on its way for 2007. With the points battle starting as of last week its a different game now as each and every team has one thing on their minds is to be top in points in their respective class's.AS mother nature dropped some of the hottest temperatures of the season on us it did not stop the fast paced action on the track with each driver giving it their all in each and all events.

Last week proved how close this years points are going to be with some very close racing action on the 1/8 mile banked clay oval located between turns three and four of the big track. With the changes to the track and more clay added in the last couple weeks in turn three and four to make the corners more competitive. This week proved to be no different then the last couple weeks.

While talking with young Gage Morin at 14 years old another young Karter who moved up the ranks into the 4cylinder class at Cornwall Speedway which is the starter class says that the karting experience he has had made him a better driver as in a kart you turn the steering wheel and you turn right away but in the rookie car you have to be more aware of whats going on around you as well as the reflexes in kart driving where yo have to be faster thinking on what your next move will be on the track where in rookie you have a bit more time but have to be on your toes on who is around you.. His early success in rookie with a heat win here on Sunday night he contributes to his earlier Kart racing here at Cornwall Karting club as well as other tracks he has run on. Gage runs rookie at Frogtown speedway on Saturday nights and Cornwall Speedway on Sunday nights.

Tuesday night also marked the return of 13 year old Malcolm Mercer from Paris France where he lives during the winter and Drives local Kart tracks during the summer . Malcolm runs the 4U in Cornwall And Brockville kart track he also has his sites set on Sprint Car racing as he is a member of the 4u Sprint team and travels with them and helps out with the sprint team when needed as well.

In Box Stock the young KC1 Kacey Neville earned a Feature win and a well deserved one after a spectacular roll over in his heat race. In Box Stock Rookie the & of Trtistan Morel takes another checkered flag for the season. The 17x Cody Lazore takes his feature win in the Rookie One ,The Jr Sportsman one feature was a hard race one with 27 Myles Delormier coming out on top for yet another win for 2007. Jr Sportsman 2 17x Raymond David takes the win.In the Jr Restricted the 38 Luke Whitteker makes some great moves coming through the pack to take the checkered flag for the second week n a row.The Stock class which had two feature having the one the could not get in last week due to mother nature was won by 151 Ryan Stabler and the second feature was taken by the 73x Brandon Benedict taking an early lead and never looking back
