One Month away from the opener, news from Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont –Sunday, April 17, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – With only a month away from season opener, countdown have officially started at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Here are some news about what is going on at the speedway!

Newcomers and returns in Modifieds

Two new drivers will join the Modified group this season as Joey Ladouceur and Corey Wheeler will compete for the Rookie of the year title. Great friends in life, both drivers have a wealth of experience in other division and this will facilitate the transition into the headline division. Both drivers will be to watch.

Along with the two rookies, some drivers have announced their return in the Modified ranks, former track champion, Joel Doiron will be back in full force after being absent from competition in 2015 for work commitments. Veteran driver, Marc Therrien is also returning to racing in his #17 machine. We have great chances to see Tim O’Brien on board of the #88 Jim’s Performance ride. With these five drivers joining the class, we could see numbers back in the twenty’s.

Carey Terrance for title #4?

Defending track champion, Carey Terrance was clear at the banquet he is aiming for title #4 at Cornwall! But Terrance will have to beat several great runners including 2013 champion Mario Clair who has announced that he will run Cornwall on a regular basis this season in Roy Delormier’s #22D on regular nights and his own #22c on special evening. Along with Clair; Stephane Lafrance will look into grabbing the crown from Terrance, currently finalizing a new car for the season, Lafrance has a few tricks up his sleeves. Other contenders such as Chris Raabe, Brian McDonald, Gage Morin and Kyle Dingwall. Each of these drivers will need to bring consistent results to aim at the championship!

Some news

  • RSI Industrial will be the title sponsor for the heat championship in the Sportsman as well as the Pro-Stock.

 

  • Division title sponsors are now confirmed as Bandit Motorsports in Modified, Tracy-Wheeler/Royal Lepage in Sportsman, Alexandria Home Hardware in Pro-Stock and Polar Sound DJ Services in both Novice Sportsman and Mini-Stock.

 

  • The new grandstands are almost done, final touches are too be done as fans will be allowed access when inspection will be complete. Cleaning and testing equipment has started as everything will be ready to start the season on May 15th.

Nearly $21,000 in bonus value to be given to drivers in 2016 at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont –Friday, April 15, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – Cornwall Motor Speedway is proud to announce the drivers bonus program is back for this season and will be worth nearly $21,000 to be given throughout the upcoming season. The program will offer a wide variety of bonuses for all five regular classes. Several sponsors joined the program that will be divided in several categories.

Our biggest category will be the Perfect Attendance Award with over $11,000 in total! Drivers must compete in all events in their respective class to be eligible to the draws that will occur on September 4. Cornwall Motor Speedway will offer a total of five 2016 Pit Passes, one for each regular division. Lafrance Performance is giving 3 dyno sessions being up for grabs in the Modified, Sportsman and Pro-Stock classes, 1 per division will be given. Leaf Racewear will donate a gift certificate worth $250 in each category. Action Race Parts will give a barrel of VP Fuels in Sportsman, while the speedway will give 1 barrel of Fuels that Modified and Pro-Stock will be eligible.

Also part of the Perfect Attendance Award, are three graphic specialists offering a rebate towards a car wrap for 2016. Mr.Sew and Sew will sponsor the Ontario section, Steevy Design and Pixel Design, Quebec and Atomic Design the United-States region.

Several newcomers are joining the Perfect Attendance sponsorship will cool prizes! Qualitek with remote starters, Trick Race Parts with a fiberglass kit for Modified, Kirkey Race Parts with a gift certificate worth $800, Roch Aubin/Alexandria Home Hardware with a Honda gas engine pressure washer and finally MacEwen with 5 gift certificates of a value of 20$ each.

The Halfway Bonus program where the race leader at halfway point during the feature will win a gift certificate or prize money from different sponsors. Bandit Motorsports will be the sponsor of the Modified, Mini-Stock and Novice Sportsman with a bonus of $40, $25 and 25$ for each division respectively. MacEwen is sponsoring the Pro-Stock with a $20 gift certificate and Total Race Supply returns as the sponsor of the Sportsman with a $25 gift certificate. Nearly $2,000 will be given in the Halfway Bonus program.

Pizza Pizza of Cornwall is partnering with the bonus program for the Hard-Luck and Hard Charger award. Each night a driver who has bad luck during his evening will receive a full pizza delivered to his trailer after his event. We will also reward the driver who will pass the most car during his feature event with the hard-charger, again a full pizza will be delivered to his trailer after the race. A rotation between divisions has been established.

Bandit Motorsports is heavily involved in the program with the Performer of the Month Award and also the Best Appearing Car. The Performer of the Month will be given in all divisions at the end of the months of May, June, July and August to the drivers who will have collected the most points, a tie breaker will decide the winner in case of a tie. This program is worth over $1,600. The Best Appearing Car Award will be given in each class in July with fans being able to vote for their favourite car, eligible cars must have participated in all events in May and June in their own division. As well as the 6th place finisher bonus that will be given on a nightly basis and on a rotation.

VP Small Engine Fuels Miss the podium award will be given to the driver who finishes fourth in the feature event with one chosen division per evening. A gift certificate of 50$ towards race fuel will be donated.

Fast Eddie Racewear is joining with a cool bonus, as they will offer a unique t-shirt to the feature winner in each of Cornwall’s regular division.

‘This program is for our drivers that support us on a regular basis as we want to retain them on a weekly basis, our current program has 26 different bonus and 22 of them are for our regulars which is nearly 85%!’’ noted Cornwall PR Director, Martin Bélanger.

Only 6 weeks away from opening night at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Tuesday, April 5, 2016, Martin Bélanger – Spring is upon us as we are only 6 weeks away from the start of the next season! Here are some news and notes about the upcoming season at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

2015 Banquet

The champions of 2015 were celebrated last Saturday as more than 240 guests gathered in the Township Hall in South-Stormont. Track champions as well as some local series received trophies, prizes and awards during a great evening. Rick Young was the recipient of the Mitch Jock Award for his contribution to the sport over the years and Gilles Godard left with the Ron Morin Award for his efforts in helping the Cornwall racing community.

Test and Tune added to the schedule

A Test and Tune session was added by promoter Raymond Lavergne on Tuesday, May 10th at 6:30pm all regular divisions as well as other categories are invited to come and practice, pre-tech and pre-registration will also be done during that evening. Admission price will determined and announced in the coming days.

Car-Show around the corner

Cornwall Motor Speedway will be present at the Cornwall Square from Thursday, April 14 to Saturday, April 16th with a few cars on display. We have teamed up with Mohawk International Raceway for this event. An information booth along with staff will be there during the 3 days to answer all your questions about upcoming season. Come and pick up your 2016 schedule, you might have a chance to win a few prizes!

Work, work, work!

The work being accomplished at the speedway is getting into the final phase! The sprint has started towards May 15th, cement is being poured at the bottom of the stands to enable the installation of the final 2 rows. A new fence will also be installed in the coming weeks behind the tower as the new grandstands have changed the layout especially behind turn 1.

The former stands that were on top of turn 4 will become the new grand stand in the pits, they will be sitting on a new cement pad and will allow more people to sit and enjoy the races for this area. Raymond Lavergne stated that a total of 17 workers were at the speedway on this Tuesday to get as much work possible!

Bonus Program is on a roll!

Announced at the banquet, the Drivers Bonus Program is back for 2016 with more than $20,000 in prize and money collected and given back to drivers via several different bonus. Over $6,000 was added in the program compared to 2015. All the details will be announced shortly in a separate release.

With less than 6 weeks before the start of 2016, we can expect great announcements about the upcoming summer, new stands, new series, and bonus program and great racing…we cannot ask for anything better!

Seulement 6 semaines avant le début de la saison au Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – mardi 5 avril, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – Le printemps commence à se pointer alors que nous sommes à seulement 6 semaines du début de la saison, voici quelques nouvelles d’importance concernant le Cornwall Motor Speedway et la saison 2016.

Banquet 2015

Les champions de la saison 2015 ont étés célébrés samedi dernier alors que plus de 240 invités étaient conviés au magnifique centre des congrès de South-Stormont. Les champions de la piste ainsi que les gagnants des différentes séries ont reçus trophées, prix et argent durant cette belle soirée. Rick Young s’est mérité le prix Mitch Jock pour sa contribution dans le sport automobile. Le pilote Gilles Godard a remporté le prix Ron Morin pour ses efforts et tout l’aide qu’il offre aux pilotes de Cornwall.

Session de pratique ajoutée à l’horaire

Une session de pratique a été ajoutée au calendrier par le promoteur Raymond Lavergne, le mardi 10 mai prochain dès 18h30. Toutes les divisions régulières sont invitées en plus des autres catégories. Des inspections préliminaires ainsi que l’inscription pour la prochaine saison pourront être complétées. La divulgation du coût d’entrée sera annoncée très prochainement.

Cornwall présent au Cornwall Square

Le Cornwall Motor Speedway sera présent au Cornwall Square du jeudi 14 au samedi 16 avril prochain, quelques voitures seront en présentation. Cet évènement sera en association avec le Mohawk International Raceway. Un kiosque d’information avec des employés de la piste sera sur place afin de répondre à vos questions sur la prochaine saison. Venez récupérer votre cédule pour la saison 2016 et vous pourriez gagner quelques prix!

On travaille fort!

Tout le travail accompli pour les améliorations entre dans sa dernière phase. Le compte à rebours pour tout terminer avant l’ouverture du 15 mai est amorcé. Du ciment est présentement coulé au bas de la nouvelle estrade dans le but d’accueillir les 2 premières rangées de celle-ci. Une nouvelle clôture sera installée derrière les tours, l’arrivée de la nouvelle estrade a changé le décor quelque peu, surtout derrière le tournant #1. Les estrades qui étaient au haut de la courbe #4 ont été déplacées dans les puits seront assises sur une nouvelle base de ciment, elles permettront à plus de gens de s’asseoir dans cette section. Raymond Lavergne a mentionné qu’il y avait un total de 17 travailleurs qui s’affairent ce mardi à avancer les divers projets.

Le programme de bonis grossi!

L’annonce a été faite au banquet, le programme de bonis pour les pilotes sera de retour et sera encore plus gros avec plus de $20,000 en prix qui sera distribué aux pilotes au cours de la saison. Un ajout de $6,000 a été fait dans ce dernier comparativement à l’an dernier. Tous les détails seront annoncés très prochainement dans un différend communiqué.

Avec moins de 6 semaines avant le début de la prochaine saison, on peut s’attendre à d’importantes annonces concernant l’été prochain! De nouvelles estrades, de nouvelles séries, un programme de bonis renouvelé et des courses excitantes… on ne peut qu’avoir hâte au début de saison!
