Raabe, Pecore, Lebrun, Cryderman and Dagenais, winners at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 15, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – A great evening of racing on Father`s day at Cornwall Motor Speedway as a full show was on the schedule sponsored by Mike Graham Masonry, a special attraction for the kids during intermission time as they had their annual tire`s race.

In the Jiffy Auto Services 30-lap Modified feature, Joel Doiron took the lead as the yellow came on lap 1 for David Papineau. Doiron in the lead with Laurent Ladouceur taking second, while running for third, Brian McDonald spun in turn two on lap #6. Doiron still first as Chris Raabe charged to second as a 3-car accident occurred with 22 laps to go. Raabe had the car to beat as he took first on the following green as Dale Planck was now running in fourth as Carey Terrance joined him at the halfway point as they had a great battle for third. Raabe saw his great lead vanished with 9 to go as Doiron slowed the field down. Raabe had Terrance on his back bumper until for second until Terrance got a left rear flat bringing yellow with 3 laps to go. Raabe led the final laps with Planck, Ladouceur, Stephane Lafrance and Gage Morin completing the top 5.

Claude Parisien was the initial leader in the 20-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature. C-D Beauchamp brought the caution out on lap 3. Marc Lalonde had a strong start on the green and took the spot with Rock Aubin running in third. Lalonde still the leader at the halfway point with Aubin racing hard for second spot with Parisien. Stephane Lebrun joined the leader pack with 5 laps go as took the high lane to take second. Lebrun got closer to Lalonde with 2 laps to go. Lebrun was too fast for Lalonde and came in first winning his second feature in a row over Lalonde and Parisien completed the podium.

A full field of 24 cars took the initial green in the 20-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman feature as Steve Coté was the leader; Dillon Sallows spun in turn 3 and yellow was out with 1 lap in. On the restart, Louie Jackson Jr, jumps to the lead and led 8 laps until Adam Rozon brought the yellow. Jackson is still the leader as Mitch Primeau was third. Shane Pecore made a great move from the inside lane on lap 13 and took second. Pecore used the same move to pass Jackson with 5 laps to go. Pecore never looked back and scored his second feature of the season over Jackson and Primeau.

Derek Cryderman took command in the 15-lap Luminacorr Semi-Pro feature; Cryderman got a sizeable lead over Nick Gauvreau and Pascal Racette. Cryderman led the first 13 laps as Gauvreau stopped in turn 4. Cryderman was able to resist a late charge from Racette to win his first event of the season over Racette and Junior Delormier.

The 12-lap Mini-Stock feature saw Elizabeth Gauthier take the early lead as she spun out in turn 2 on the second lap giving the lead to Marc Dagenais as Corbin Millar`s car caught in fire in the engine bay. On the restart, Chris James took the lead as Francis Blanchette came on strong and took second and set eyes on the leader. Red flag came out on lap 8 as Natacha Lebrun landed on her roof in the backstretch, no injuries for Natacha. On the final lap, Blanchette pushed a little bit too hard on James and was relegated to third giving the win to Marc Dagenais, his first of the season.

A big program next Sunday evening as the Modifieds will have twin 40s features paying $2,000 to the winner each along with a full program in all other categories.

Cornwall, Ont – dimanche 15 juin, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – Une belle soirée de course était à l’horaire en cette journée de la fête des pères alors qu’un programme complet était prévu en plus de la course annuelle de pneus pour les enfants durant l’intermission en cette soirée commanditée par Mike Graham Masonry.

Dans la finale de 30 tours Modifié Jiffy Auto Service, Joel Doiron prend les devants et mène 1 tour lorsque le jaune sort pour David Papineau. Doiron aux commandes avec Laurent Ladouceur en 2e, alors qu’il se bat pour la 3e, Brian McDonald s’arrête dans le tournant 2 au 6e tour. Doiron premier quand Chris Raabe connaît un excellent départ et prend le 2e rang lorsqu’un accident de 3 voitures survient avec 22 voitures à faire.  Raabe avait la voiture à battre alors qu’il prend la première à la relance alors que Dale Planck est maintenant 4e. Carey Terrance rejoint Planck pour une belle bataille pour la 3e. Raabe a vu sa belle avance disparaître avec 9 tours à faire lorsque Doiron ralenti le peloton. Raabe avait Terrance sur son pare-choc mais ce dernier a une crevaison arrière gauche et apporte le jaune avec 3 tours à faire. Raabe mène les derniers tours pour remporter la victoire devant Planck, Ladouceur, Stephane Lafrance et Gage Morin complète le top 5.

Claude Parisien était le meneur dans la finale de 20 tours Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock. C-D Beauchamp cause le premier jaune au 3e tour. Marc Lalonde a un excellent départ et prend la première avec Rock Aubin au 3e rang. Lalonde toujours le meneur à la mi-course alors que Parisien résiste aux charges d’Aubin. Stephane Lebrun rejoint les meneurs avec 5 tours à effectuer, ce dernier utilise la ligne extérieure pour prendre la 2e et se rapproche du meneur avec 2 tours à faire. Lebrun était trop rapide pour Lalonde et remporte sa 2e victoire de suite sur Lalonde et Parisien complète le podium.

Un peloton complet de 24 voitures, a pris le vert initial dans la finale de 20 tours Sportsman Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty alors que Steve Côté est le meneur. Dillon Sallows apporte le premier jaune au premier tour. À la relance, Louie Jackson Jr, tombe premier et mène 8 tours lorsque Adam Rozon apporte le jaune. Jackson toujours en première alors que Mitch Primeau est troisième. Shane Pecore effectue une belle manœuvre de l’intérieur pour prendre la 2e place. Pecore effectue un dépassement identique pour obtenir la première et ne regarde jamais à l’arrière pour remporter sa 2e finale de la saison devant Jackson et Primeau.

Derek Cryderman est le meneur dans la finale de 15 tours Semi-Pro Luminacorr, Cryderman se construit une belle avance sur Nicholas Gauvreau et Pascal Racette. Cryderman mène les 13 premiers tours alors que Gauvreau s’arrête dans le tournant 4. La voiture #420 de Cryderman résiste aux charges de Racette et remporte sa première victoire de la saison devant Racette et Junior Delormier.

Dans la finale de 12 tours Mini-Stock a vu Elizabeth Gauthier prendre les commandes mais s’arrête dans le 2e tournant au deuxième tour offrant la première à Marc Dagenais alors que la voiture de Corbin Millar prend feu dans son moteur. À la relance, Chris James obtient les devants alors que Francis Blanchette s’approche rapidement du meneur en 2e. Le drapeau rouge sort pour Natacha Lebrun qui se retrouve sur le toit et le rouge est lancé, aucune blessure dans son cas. Dans le dernier tour de la finale, Blanchette pousse le meneur un peu trop fort et il est envoyé au 3e rang donnant la victoire à Marc Dagenais, sa première de la saison.

Une grosse soirée dimanche prochain alors que les modifiés auront 2 finales de 40 tours avec $2,000 au vainqueur lors de chaque finale en plus d’un programme complet dans toutes les catégories.

 Phil Potts wins the Go Nuclear Late Model Series Race at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 8, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – The Cornwall Motor Speedway hosted a new series this Sunday evening at the Go Nuclear Late Model made their first appearance at the speedway on Paul`s Auto Body night. The Modified, Pro-Stock, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock had also a full show along with the banner competition at intermission time.

The 35-lap Go Nuclear Late Models Series saw Adam Turner took the early lead as he got challenged by Rick Miller. On a lap 4 restart, Miller took the lead over Turner as defending series champion Dale Caswell was running in third. Caley Weese brought the second caution on lap 8 by stopping in turn 4. A great battle for the lead on the following green as Turner was strong on the bottom lane and regained the top spot on lap 14. As the race got a good rhythm the caution went out with 14 laps to go as a tangle occurred in turn 3. On the restart, Turner stayed first over Miller as Phil Potts was now third. Bad luck occurred for Miller on lap 30 as he slowed causing the yellow.  Turner got a good challenge from Potts in the last portion of the feature. On a last lap dash, Potts is able to pass Turner at the flag stand to capture the race by .0011 seconds to win his first ever series event as Dale Caswell completed the podium.

Marc Therrien took the top spot in the 30-lap Jiffy Auto Services as Bruno Lepage passed him on the following lap as Gilles Godard stopped in turn 3 with 2 laps completed. Lepage kept first as Joel Doiron and Brian McDonald, were behind him. Doiron lost his left front wheel and stopped in turn 4 and the yellow lights got back on the field on lap 9. On the following green, McDonald used the outside lane to pass Lepage for the lead while Raabe was in third. Raabe took second on lap 16 as Stephane Lafrance pulled closer to Lepage for the last podium spot. McDonald led the final portion as he became the fourth different winner of the year in front of Raabe and Lepage.

In the 20-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division, Terry Ladouceur took the front position as C-D Beauchamp spun in front of field with 2 laps completed. On the restart, Eli Gilbert leads the way as Stéphane Lebrun was now second as Todd Vance got collected hard in turn 2 on lap 6. Gilbert got pressure from Lebrun on the green as George Renaud was running behind them. Lebrun to the lead at the halfway over Renaud and Jocelyn Roy as Gilbert faded away. Lebrun led the final laps to capture his first event of the year over Renaud and Roy completed the top 3.

In the 15-lap Semi-Pro feature, Bruno Richard led the field of 12 cars to the green as a great fight was going for second as Todd Raabe the spot over Derek Cryderman after a heated battle. While Richard was alone in front, Kevin Fetterly took third over Cryderman. Richard led wire to wire in the caution free feature over Raabe and Fetterly.

Justin Desrosiers took the early lead in the 12-lap Mini-Stock feature event but got passed by Francis Aborameh on the first lap as Francis Blanchette was coming on strong; Blanchette took the lead on lap 3 and pulled away from the rest of the field.  Blanchette led the last portion and got his second win of the season.

A complete program is on the schedule for next week as the kids tire race will be presented at intermission time.
