Bandit Motorsports back as main sponsor for 2016 at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Saturday, March 12, 2016, Martin Bélanger – Cornwall Motor Speedway is proud to welcome back Bandit Motorsports has the major sponsor for the 2016 season! This renewed partnership will bring local series and programs to a new level at the speedway during next summer.

Bandit Motorsports is a store that specializes in car detailing supplies, product, metal polish and supplies. Nick Kitzemian is the proud owner the Bandit Superstore that is located at 729 Industrielle Street in Clarence-Rockland, Ontario. Kitzemian is a huge race fan that was already in sponsoring the speedway last year being the main contributor in several areas at the speedway as well as being one of the main sponsor of one our regular and former track champion Stephane Lafrance.

You will see the name Bandit Motorsports branding at the same places around the facility this season. Kitzemian has agreed to be the title sponsor for the Canadian Nationals.

Bandit Motorsports will also be part of the Bonus Program that Cornwall will have for their drivers, further details will follow in the upcoming month about the participation to the program!

Kids will be happy to hear that Bandit Motorsports will offer a bicycle per evening of racing via a draw for the children that will be registered under the Cornwall Kid’s Club.

Expect to see several Bandit Motorsports doors prizes on Fan Appreciation night scheduled on August 28th as they will be the main sponsor for that evening.

With Bandit Motorsports joining forces with Cornwall Motor Speedway for the upcoming season, we can expect great things for the race teams and also the fans!

A busy schedule is shaping up for 2016 at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Saturday, March 5, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – The 2016 calendar will have less dates compared to 2015 but the nights will be as busy as last season with several new things added to the schedule that will include a total of 18 programs.

The season will start on May 15th with the first of three race of the new Race for the Cure Sportsman Series with a 100-lap event paying $2,000 to the winner along with a full program for all other divisions. The Modifieds will highlight the night on May 22nd as the first Bandit Motorsports Canadian Nationals Modified Series will be presented with a 125-lap race with $5,000 going to the feature winner. A full program along with a special 25-lap Semi-Pro race will be on the calendar for the final Sunday of May.

The month of June will start with a group that will return to Cornwall after 8 years of absence, yes the Empire Super Sprints are back on June 5th! A full program along with a visit of the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club is on the table for June 12th as the Ultimate Pro-Stock Series will highlight the evening with the 2nd edition of the Danny Lefebvre Memorial for Mini-Stock on the 19th. One of the biggest events of the year will close the month of June with the presence of the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series with a 100-lap Modified event!

With 5 nights of racing, July will be the busiest month on the calendar! It will start with the Go Nuclear Late Model Series along with the Autograph Night on July 3rd. The second event of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series will be run on July 10th with the Modifieds having a 50-lap event counting towards the DIRTcar Regional Bonus. Sprint fans can put an X on the 17th as they will have a double dose of Sprint Car action with the Patriot Sprint Tour along with their smaller cousins, the Lightning Sprint that will hold a Canada-USA Challenge. A complete program is on the card for the 24th with the SpeedSTR and Slingshot making their annual trek to the speedway for that evening. For a second month in a row, a big event will close out the month as the 2nd round of the Bandit Motorsports Canadian Nationals will be presented with a 125-lap event as well as the DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series that will compete in a 50-lap race.

The month of August is always spectacular with the season ending and action on the racetrack to finalize all point battles. The Race for the Cure Sportsman series will end on August 7 with a 100-lap event with the series champion being named. On the following weekend, the Modified will share the spotlight with the second visit of the Lightning Sprints, a 50-lap event is on tap for the Modified counting towards the DIRTcar regional bonus series and a guaranteed spot for Super DIRT Week. On the 21st, the Pro-Stock will have an extended race along with a complete race program and the Fan Appreciation night will end August on the 28th with the final visit of the Vintage Club and a Semi-Pro invitational.

Only 2 events in September but they are some of the most important and popular of the calendar! On September 4th, a DIRTcar doubleheader with the DIRTcar 358-Modified and DIRTcar Sportsman Series along with the final point’s night. The 2016 will end on September 11 with the annual Enduro, an afternoon of fun and excitement!

Again we are presenting a busy schedule with some additions and returns along with a large variety in classes that should please our race fans. The countdown is on! A little bit more than 2 months left before opening night!

The Race for the Cure Sportsman Series makes his debut at the Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, January 17, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – A new local Sportsman Series will begin in 2016 at Cornwall Motor Speedway providing some excitement on the track but also giving back to the community! Over $11,000 in prize and money will be distributed at the end of the new Race for the Cure Sportsman Series!

Current Sportsman driver Steve Morris approached promoter Raymond Lavergne at the end of the 2015 season with his project of having a Sportsman Series while collecting funds towards families that are affected with Cancer a disease that affects everyone in a way or other. Lavergne immediately accepted and the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series is now created with a 3-race Series being run throughout the year at Cornwall.

Morris will bring a Pink Sportsman car that will be parked behind the grandstand during the whole racing season, fans will be able to sign their name on the car while donating funds towards the cause, pins with the cancer logo will be offered to the donators. This car will serve as well as the pace car for all three Sportsman Series races. For the final 100-lap race, lap sponsorship will be available at 10$ each with some specific laps being a little higher. The Lavergne family already agreed to match the total amount! The lap sponsorship grid will be up on our Facebook page in early May. All the money collected throughout the season will be given to families affected with cancer and in need of a little help financially.

On the track, the Series will be composed of 3 events, two of 100-lap distance and one of 75 laps. The first race will be part of the Season Opener on Sunday, May 15th with a 100-lap race with $2,000 to be given to the race winner. The second race will be run on Sunday, July 10 with a 75-lap event with $1,500 provided to the first place driver. The champion will be crowned on Sunday, August 7 with a final 100-lap race with again $2,000 being given to the race winner.

Several sponsors have embarked in this new series, TAS Racing will give a full body to the Series champion while providing four Hoosier Tires to the second place finisher in the championship and two Hoosier Tires to the third spot. Olson Fabrication will sponsor the $2,000 point’s funds, with the champion collecting $750, second place $500, while positions 3 to 5 will receive $250 each. Seaway GM will also be part of the series sponsoring a new GM 602 Crate Engine, this prize will be given via a draw between all drivers that took part in the 3-race series. Total value of prizes and money is worth over $11,000!

Some exciting news about this new series that will be part of another busy schedule for 2016 at the Speedway. Management is currently putting the final touches on a schedule that should count 18 events, an announcement will be made in the coming weeks concerning the full schedule! The 2015 Banquet of Champion will be held on Saturday, April 2, more details to come about the banquet shortly.
