Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, July 14, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – Mother Nature decided to cooperate with Cornwall Motor Speedway as Nightly Sponsor Speed Glass presented a full event of racing for the five divisions along with a demolition derby at the end of the night.

Michel Chicoine set the pace in the 30-lap Jiffy Auto Services Modified feature as Marc Therrien hit the wall in turn 1 and caution was out with 2 laps down. Chicoine in the lead with Jeff Sykes and Justin Lalancette behind the leader, 3 cars got together on lap 4 and the yellow was out again. Chicoine the leader as Joel Doiron jumped to third. The race picked up momentum but Stephane Lafrance slowed in the backstretch bringing the race to a stop on lap 12. Chicoine doesn`t let up and captures his first ever feature race at Cornwall over Jeff Sykes and Joel Doiron

In the 20-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature, Dave Seguin took the lead over Dan Desnoyers and Michel Desjardins. Caution was out for Michel Desjardins on lap 5. On the restart, Ryan Stabler grabbed the lead as PJ Peters got second with Desnoyers holding on to third as yellow was back on lap 6. Stabler never looked back and won his first victory of the year over Roch Aubin and PJ Peters.

Thomas Cook grabbed the early lead in the 20-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman Feature; Cook led the way as Bill Mullin quickly jumped to third, but Jessica Power slipped by Mullin as Mike Stacey was second. Power had a strong car as she took second and was chasing the leader at the halfway point. Joey Ladouceur stopped in turn 1 with 8 laps to go. On the restart, Power jumped to the lead over Cook and Mullin in third. As Power pulled away, Mullin got second and was getting closer to the leader. Mullin was able to get by Power in the final turn and won his first win of the season over Power and Cook completed the podium.

The 15-lap Evans Bus Lines Semi-Pro feature was the last to hit the track as Derek Cryderman took the lead in the early portion and survived a few cautions to capture his second feature at Cornwall in 2013, Bruno Richard finished second and Kevin Fetterly completed the top 3.

In the 12-lap Baxtrom YIG Mini-Stock, Mike Gaucher took the early lead just before Serge Langlois had a wild flip in the backstretch on lap 3, Langlois was ok. Gaucher led the final portion to capture his second feature in a row over Randy Tremblay and Francois Blanchette.

The Demolition Derby was cancelled because only 1 car showed up at the speedway.

Action resumes next week as Alexandria Home Hardware will present a full night of racing.

Une première pour Michel Chicoine au Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – dimanche 14 juillet, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – Avec la température finalement de son côté, le Cornwall Motor Speedway a pu présenter un programme complet de course lors de la soirée Speedy Glass en plus d’un derby de démolition.

Michel Chicoine mène le peloton dans la finale de 30 tours Jiffy Auto Services Modifié alors que Marc Therrien frappe le mur dans le tournant 1 et le jaune sort au 2e tour. Chicoine le meneur avec Jeff Sykes et Justin Lalancette derrière le meneur, 3 voitures se frappent au 4e tour et le jaune sort de nouveau.  Chicoine toujours aux commandes alors que Joel Doiron tombe 3e. La course prend un bon rythme mais Stephane Lafrance ralenti dans le droit arrière et l’épreuve est ralentie au 12e tour. Chicoine ne fait pas d’erreur et remporte sa première victoire en carrière à Cornwall devant Jeff Sykes et Joel Doiron.

Dans la finale de 20 tours Pro-Stock Alexandria Home Hardware, Dave Seguin prend les devants sur Dan Desnoyers et Michel Desjardins. Le jaune sort au 5e tour pour Michel Desjardins au 5e tour. À la relance, Ryan Stabler prend les devants alors que PJ Peters est 2e et Desnoyers garde la troisième lorsque le jaune revient en piste au 6e. Stabler ne regarde jamais à l’arrière et remporte sa première victoire de la saison devant Roch Aubin et PJ Peters.

Thomas Cook prend les commandes dans la finale de 20 tours Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman, Cook à l’avant alors que Bill Mullin prend rapidement le 3e rang. Jessica Power parvient à dépasser Mullin alors que Mike Stacey est 2e, Power avait une excellente voiture alors qu’elle dépasse Stacey et pourchasse le meneur à la mi-épreuve. Joey Ladouceur ralenti le peloton avec 8 tours à effectuer s’arrêtant dans le tournant 1. À la relance, Power prend les devants avec Mullin en 2e et s’approche dangereusement du meneur. Mullin réussi à dépasser Power dans le dernier tournant pour remporter sa première victoire devant Power et Cook termine sur la 3e marche du podium.

La finale de 15 tours Semi-Pro Evans Bus Lines était la dernière finale de la soirée alors que Derek Cryderman prend les devants tôt dans la course et survie plusieurs neutralisations pour remporter sa 2e course de la saison devant Bruno Richard et Kevin Fetterly

Dans la finale de 12 tours Baxtrom YIG Mini-Stock, Mike Gaucher prend les devants tout juste avant que Serge Langlois effectue une embardée spectaculaire dans le droit arrière au 3e tour, Langlois s’en est sorti indemne. Gaucher mène la dernière portion de la finale pour remporter sa 2e victoire de la saison devant Randy Tremblay et Francois Blanchette.

Le derby de démolition fut annuler à cause d’un manque de voitures.

L’action se poursuit dimanche prochain alors que le Home Hardware d’Alexandria présentera un programme complet.

Autograph & Banner night along with Demo Derby this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Friday, July 12, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – Action resumes this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway with Speedy Glass present a full racing program for all divisions along with a Demolition Derby at the end of the evening. Fans will be able to meet and greet their favourite drivers during intermission time as cars will be placed in the infield.

Stephane Lafrance leads the way in the Jiffy Auto Services Modified category, Lafrance is one of the 4 different winners this season at the speedway, he has a 16-point lead over Chris Raabe and Luke Whitteker is currently third. Mario Clair and Laurent Ladouceur, completes the top 5. A 30-lap feature event is on the schedule for Sunday as a great field of cars is expected.

Drivers from the Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman division will take the track for a 20-lap event, rookie of the contender; Joey Ladouceur has a slight 2-point lead of Chris Herbison. A 12-lap feature race will also occur during the evening for drivers that occupy the bottom half of the point chart. A solid group of drivers will be on hand.

The Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock category will run a 20-lap feature race with returning to competition frontrunner Dave Bissonnette leading the way in front of Roch Aubin and Jocelyn Roy. Bissonnette and Aubin visited the winner circle so far along with the other winner Bruno Cyr.

After a night off, the Evans Bus Lines Semi-Pro and Baxtrom YIG Mini-Stock divisions will also be on hand for their respective 15 and 12 laps feature races.

After a few tries, the photo and autograph night will occur during intermission time, fans will be invited to the infield and they will be able to meet their favourite drivers.

To close the evening, an entertaining Demolition Derby will pay $500 to the winner.

Pit Gates will open at 4:30pm with general admission opening at 5:30pm. The first heat is scheduled for 7pm. General Admission will costs 12$ with children 18 years and under only 2$, seniors 65 and over will be 7$ and Pit Admission will be $23.
