Twin 40s for Modifieds this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Thursday, June 19, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – The Modifieds will have a busy Sunday evening this coming weekend as twin 40-lap events will be run along with a complete race program in all other divisions on Seaway GM Performance night.

A special night for the Modifieds as two 40-lap events paying $2,000 to the winner each will be run as more than $16,000 in purse could be distributed. Special qualifying procedures will be in place for this night. For feature #1, the Cornwall Speedway handicap system will be in use to place the drivers in the heats, qualifying results will be taken in heads-up fashion and depending on the amount of cars in the pits, a B-Main might be necessary. For feature #2, the practice session before the start of the evening will be used as a timed session and the top 20 times will be taken for these spots, the remainder of the field will be fixed with a B-Main. To add a twist to the second event, the winner of the first event will draw a number between 0 and 10 and it will be used to invert the top positions in the feature.

With his second win of the season, Shane Pecore got the lead back in the Tracy Wheeler Royal Lepage Sportsman category, Pecore leads the way over Corey Wheeler and Joey Ladouceur as Justin Lalancette and Mike Maresca completes the top 5, a 20-lap feature event will be run.

In the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division, Stephane Lebrun is currently the hottest driver in the group having won the last 2 events while passing Dave Bissonnette for the points lead as Jocelyn Roy is third. There is always great racing in these 20-lap events.

Will we see a fourth different winner in the Laminacorr Industries Semi-Pro 15-lap feature event? So far, Kevin Fetterly and Bruno Richard with two each and current point’s leader Derek Cryderman have visited the winners circle.

Rookie contender Jean-Francois Page will want to continue his good start in 2014 as he leads the point`s chase without winning an event thus far. He will have to battle veterans such as Chris James and Francis Aborameh in the 12-lap Mini-Stock.

General admission price will be 20$ for adults, 15$ for Seniors 65 years and over, kids under 16 admission is only 2$. Pits admission will be 30$, pit entrance will be open at 4pm. General admission gates will open at 5:30pm with racing starting at 7pm sharp!

Cornwall, Ont – Jeudi 19 juin, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – Les Modifiés auront une soirée occupée ce dimanche alors que 2 finales de 40 tours seront disputées en plus d’un programme complet dans les autres catégories, une commandite de Seaway GM Performance.

Une soirée spéciale pour les modifiés alors que 2 finales de 40 tours sont à l’horaire alors que chacune va payer la somme de $2,000 au vainqueur et plus de $16,000 en bourse sera offerte. Des procédures de qualifications ont étés mise en place pour cette soirée. Pour la finale #1, le système d’handicap du Cornwall Speedway sera utilisé afin de placer les pilotes dans les qualifications, les résultats de celles-ci seront utilisés pour placer la finale et une épreuve de consolation pourrait être nécessaire selon le nombre de voitures présentes. Pour la 2e finale, la session de pratique d’avant course sera utilisé comme temps chronométré et les 20 meilleurs temps meubleront ces places, une épreuve consolation sera nécessaire pour les autres positions disponibles. Pour ajouter un peu de punch à la 2e finale, le vainqueur de la première pigera un numéro allant de 0 à 10 qui déterminera l’inversion des premières positions.

Avec sa victoire dimanche dernier, Shane Pecore a repris les commandes du championnat Tracy Wheeler Royal Lepage Sportsman, Pecore mène sur Corey Wheeler et Joey Ladouceur alors que Justin Lalancette et Mike Maresca, complètent le top 5, une finale de 20 tours est prévue.

Dans la catégorie Pro-Stock Alexandria Home Hardware, Stéphane Lebrun est présentement le meneur ayant remporté les 2 derniers évènements dépassant Dave Bissonnette à la tête du championnat alors que Jocelyn Roy est bien en selle au 3e rang. Beaucoup d’action à prévoir dans la finale de 20 tours.

Verrons-nous un 4e vainqueur dans la classe Semi-Pro Laminacorr Industries ? Kevin Fetterly et Bruno Richard avec 2 victoires ainsi que le meneur dans les points Derek Cryderman, ont visités le cercle des vainqueurs jusqu’ici. Une finale de 15 tours sera complétée avant l’intermission.

Le pilote recrue Jean-Francois Pagé tentera de continuer son bon début de saison étant premier au classement sans avoir goûté à la victoire, il aura fort à faire car des vétérans comme Chris James et Francis Aborameh voudront remporter la finale de 12 tours Mini-Stock également.

Le coût pour l’admission générale sera de 20$ pour les adultes, 15$ pour l’âge d’or de 65 ans et plus, les enfants de 16 ans et moins seront admis pour seulement 2$. L’entrée aux puits sera de 30$, les puits seront accessible pour le stationnement dès 16h00. L’ouverture de l’admission générale sera à compter de 17h30 alors que les qualifications débuteront à 19h00.

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 15, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – A great evening of racing on Father`s day at Cornwall Motor Speedway as a full show was on the schedule sponsored by Mike Graham Masonry, a special attraction for the kids during intermission time as they had their annual tire`s race.

In the Jiffy Auto Services 30-lap Modified feature, Joel Doiron took the lead as the yellow came on lap 1 for David Papineau. Doiron in the lead with Laurent Ladouceur taking second, while running for third, Brian McDonald spun in turn two on lap #6. Doiron still first as Chris Raabe charged to second as a 3-car accident occurred with 22 laps to go. Raabe had the car to beat as he took first on the following green as Dale Planck was now running in fourth as Carey Terrance joined him at the halfway point as they had a great battle for third. Raabe saw his great lead vanished with 9 to go as Doiron slowed the field down. Raabe had Terrance on his back bumper until for second until Terrance got a left rear flat bringing yellow with 3 laps to go. Raabe led the final laps with Planck, Ladouceur, Stephane Lafrance and Gage Morin completing the top 5.

Claude Parisien was the initial leader in the 20-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature. C-D Beauchamp brought the caution out on lap 3. Marc Lalonde had a strong start on the green and took the spot with Rock Aubin running in third. Lalonde still the leader at the halfway point with Aubin racing hard for second spot with Parisien. Stephane Lebrun joined the leader pack with 5 laps go as took the high lane to take second. Lebrun got closer to Lalonde with 2 laps to go. Lebrun was too fast for Lalonde and came in first winning his second feature in a row over Lalonde and Parisien completed the podium.

A full field of 24 cars took the initial green in the 20-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman feature as Steve Coté was the leader; Dillon Sallows spun in turn 3 and yellow was out with 1 lap in. On the restart, Louie Jackson Jr, jumps to the lead and led 8 laps until Adam Rozon brought the yellow. Jackson is still the leader as Mitch Primeau was third. Shane Pecore made a great move from the inside lane on lap 13 and took second. Pecore used the same move to pass Jackson with 5 laps to go. Pecore never looked back and scored his second feature of the season over Jackson and Primeau.

Derek Cryderman took command in the 15-lap Luminacorr Semi-Pro feature; Cryderman got a sizeable lead over Nick Gauvreau and Pascal Racette. Cryderman led the first 13 laps as Gauvreau stopped in turn 4. Cryderman was able to resist a late charge from Racette to win his first event of the season over Racette and Junior Delormier.

The 12-lap Mini-Stock feature saw Elizabeth Gauthier take the early lead as she spun out in turn 2 on the second lap giving the lead to Marc Dagenais as Corbin Millar`s car caught in fire in the engine bay. On the restart, Chris James took the lead as Francis Blanchette came on strong and took second and set eyes on the leader. Red flag came out on lap 8 as Natacha Lebrun landed on her roof in the backstretch, no injuries for Natacha. On the final lap, Blanchette pushed a little bit too hard on James and was relegated to third giving the win to Marc Dagenais, his first of the season.

A big program next Sunday evening as the Modifieds will have twin 40s features paying $2,000 to the winner each along with a full program in all other categories.
