DIRTcar Doubleheader this weekend at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Tuesday June 25th, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – If you are looking for an activity on Canada Day Weekend, Cornwall Motor Speedway will be the place to be this Sunday June 30th with the visit of the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series and the following night on Canada Day, with a DIRTcar Tripleheader involving the DIRTcar 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro-Stock series on the same card!

All the Big Block Stars will be in town this Sunday to compete in the 100-lap and $6,000 to win feature event, the Brett Hearn, Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Phelps, Danny Johnson, Pete Britten, Billy Dunn and company will race against our local drivers. Several drivers from “la Belle Province“ will drive to Cornwall as David Hébert, Mario Clair, Steve Bernard and Yan Bussière all owns a Big Block and would want to cash on this great doubleheader. A full race program for the other regular divisions will be on tap.

The following night the DIRTcar Tripleheader involving the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds combined with the 1st round of the Gaetan`s Chip Stand Canadian Nationals will be the main event of the evening. Several big names will try and run both show, a huge car count is expected to try and qualify for the 100-lap event paying $4,000. Over $60,000 in purse will be given for the Modifieds over the 2 feature events!

With the presence of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, several invaders will be visiting in order to win the 50-lap feature race, drivers from the Niagara region, Quebec and Northern New-York will be in competition against our great local drivers.

The Pro-Stock category will have their most important night of the year in Cornwall with 2 series in town as the DIRTcar Series in conjunction with the Mohawk Race Parts Series will be run during the 50-lap event. Again a great field of cars is expected with many competitors from other track making the haul for this race.

For Sunday`s event, the pit gates will open at 3:30pm with general admission unlocking at 4:30pm. Time trials for Modifieds will start at 6:30pm with the first heat scheduled to start at 7:00pm. General Admission will costs 28$ with children 18 years and under only 2$, seniors 65 and over will be 15$ and Pit Admission will be $38.

On Monday, Pit Gates will open at 1pm with general admission opening at 2pm. The first heat is scheduled for 5pm. This early time will allow fans and race teams to get home at a reasonable time. General Admission will costs 25$ with children 18 years and under only 2$, seniors 65 and over will be 15$ and Pit Admission will be $35.

Cornwall, Ont – mardi 25 juin, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – Si vous cherchez une activité lors du long weekend de la fête du Canada, le Cornwall Motor Speedway aura quelque chose pour vous ! Ce dimanche 30 juin, la série Super DIRTcar Gros-Blocs sera présente et dès le lendemain lors de la fête du Canada, la présence des séries DIRTcar 358-Modifié, Sportsman et Pro-Stock lors de la même soirée.

Toutes les grandes vedettes de la série Gros-Blocs seront en ville ce dimanche lors de la finale de 100 tours payant la somme de $6,000 au vainqueur. Les Brett Hearn, Matt Sheppard, Danny Johnson, Pete Britten, Billy Dunn, Jimmy Phelps et compagnie seront présents pour compétitionner contre nos meilleurs pilotes locaux. Plusieurs grosses pointures du Québec se déplaceront également, des noms comme David Hébert, Mario Clair, Steve Bernard, Yan Bussière ont chacun une voiture Gros-Blocs et voudront profiter de ces 2 évènements pour en tirer profit! Un programme complet dans les autres catégories sera à l’horaire.

Le lendemain, la triple finale DIRTcar aura lieu mettant en vedette la série DIRTcar 358-Modifié combinée avec la première manche de la série Gaetan`s Chip Stand Canadian Nationals. Plusieurs gros noms seront sur place et tenteront de se qualifier pour cette finale de 100 tours offrant $4,000 au vainqueur. Plus de $60,000 en bourse seront octroyés durant ces 2 finales.

Avec la présence de la série DIRTcar Sportsman, plusieurs pilotes de l’extérieur seront en visite pour gagner la finale de 50 tours, des pilotes en provenance de la région du Niagara, du Québec et du Nord-Est des États-Unis seront sur place pour courir contre nos excellents pilotes locaux.

La catégorie Pro-Stock aura son épreuve la plus importante de la saison à Cornwall avec 2 séries, tel que DIRTcar et la série Mohawk Race Parts, il y aura beaucoup à l’enjeu durant la finale de 50 tours. Un excellent groupe de coureurs seront en présence incluant plusieurs de l’extérieur.

Pour les évènements du dimanche, les puits ouvriront dès 15h30 alors que l’admission générale sera ouverte à 16h30. Les temps chronométrés en Modifiés sont prévus pour 18h30 et la première qualification aura lieu dès 19h00. Il en coûtera 28$ en admission générale pour les adultes, 15$ pour l’âge d’or et les enfants de 18 ans et moins ne débourseront que 2$ pour accéder au site. Pour l’accès dans les puits, il faudra payer $38.

Pour la soirée de lundi, les puits seront ouverts à partir de 13h00 et l’admission générale dès 14h00. Les temps chronométrés débuteront vers 16h00 et la première qualification est prévue pour 17h00. Le coût d’entrée sera de 25$ pour adultes, 15$ pour l’âge d’or et les enfants de 18 ans et moins ne débourseront que 2$ pour accéder au site. Pour l’accès dans les puits, il faudra débourser la somme de $35.

Darrell Lanigan wins the World of Outlaws Late Model Feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 23, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – The World of Outlaws Late Models Series was in town for their annual visit at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Mel Valade Backhoe Services Night. Along with the spectacular Late Models, the Modifieds, Sportsman and Semi-Pro were on hand.

The 50-lap World of Outlaws Late Models saw Tim McCreadie take the lead over Tim Fuller and Bub McCool. First caution came out on third lap as Larry Wight went off the track in turn 3. McCreadie got strong start as Fuller had his hands full with McCool and Darrell Lanigan. McCreadie got into traffic on lap 9 as Lanigan was now in third. The 39-car pulled away from the field as Lanigan was charging for second with 18 laps in the books. Veteran runner Clint Smith got by Fuller for third on lap 23. Eric Wells stopped in turn 3 and caution came out lap 28 bringing the field together. On the restart, McCreadie got an issue with his right end and he lost the lead. Lanigan inherited of the lead and got away from Fuller and Smith. Fuller lost some real estate as Smith and now Shane Clanton in third. As the leaders were in heavy traffic, McCool got by Clanton for third with 7 laps to go, Adam Turner brought caution out with only 3 laps to be completed. Lanigan sailed away and got the win over Smith and Bub McCool.

Kyle Dingwall grabbed the lead in the 30-lap Jiffy Auto Services Modified Feature as Gilles Godard and Carey Terrance were behind him. Terrance got second over Godard as caution came out on lap 4. On the restart, Terrance got the lead over Dingwall just before yellow was out for Gabriel Richer on the following lap. One more lap got completed as Richer and Jeff Sykes got tangled in turn 2. Terrance in the lead for another lap as Justin Lalancette had a small fire in his engine and yellow lights were out. Terrance on top with Dingwall and Danny O’Brien joining the leaders with 10 laps completed. Brian McDonald stopped in the infield and caution was out. Terrance stepped out of the track and Dingwall got the lead with 11 laps to go as rain started to fall and the yellow lights were out as the track became slippery, Dingwall was declared winner over Danny O’Brien and Stéphane Lafrance.

The 15-lap Evans Bus Lines Feature event was the first feature of the evening; Derek Cryderman took the lead over Pascal Racette and Steve Billings. Cryderman had built himself a sizeable lead until he broke and gave Racette the lead, the feature went caution less and Racette won his first event of the season over Billings and Junior Delormier.

Shane Pecore led wire to wire in the 12-lap Sportsman Novice feature and captured the checkered flag after having bad luck on opening night.

The 20-lap feature will be run at a later date; an announcement will be done this week.
